A quick review of the assignment
Hello everyone.
After meeting with different groups and looking at what different groups have posted, I wanted to review the assignment and further explain what I'm looking for.
Each group needs to work together to create the site and write at least two collective entries. One of these entries should be an introduction. This introduction needs to have some depth. Put differently, it should explore the topic you are covering rather than just stating that you will be discussing it. Here is a good example from one of the blogs: http://wgst202.blogspot.com/2012/01/introduction.html
Your other group entry should also explore the topic in some depth.
Each group member is responsible for a subtopic. Who is assigned what should be clear and each entry should be signed. Here is a good example of an individual introduction to a subtopic: http://musicgendersexuality.blogspot.com/2012/01/intro-to-punk.html
Among the entries each person needs to post are 2-3 research posts that use scholarly sources.
Please note that wikipedia is not a scholarly source. You should use academic articles and books for the research posts.
I hope this is helpful.

Useful sites for writing assignments
Here are some sites that will help you with writing assignments.
This link provides directions for writing an effective summary.
Both this link and this link provide tips for comparing and contrasting.
All of these descriptions were supplied by university writing centers. Our writing center can help you make sense of these guides and can also help you respond to the comments I've made on your papers. Their calender lets you know when workshops are offered.

On sexual orientation and choice
This discussion of Cynthia Nixon's self-description of her sexuality as a choice explores the deep investment many people have in viewing sexual orientation as inborn and one woman's reaction to attempts to censor her. Nixon stated in her interview with the New York Times: "Why can’t it be a choice? Why is that any less legitimate? It seems we’re just ceding this point to bigots who are demanding it, and I don’t think that they should define the terms of the debate."
For another, more visual engagement with this controversy see this image creating an imagined conversation between Lady Gaga and philosopher and proto queer theorist Michel Foucault. Leaving the term "choice" out emphasizes a deeper understanding of what scholars refer to as social construction.
